Sometimes the separation of page segments by space is not clear enough. Then we can add this layout element as an explicit visual separation.

Syntax

*** or ---

The horizontal rule is depicted by three asterisks or three hyphens at the beginning of a line. We may separate the characters by one space: * * * or - - - or indent them by up to three spaces. No other characters are allowed to follow on the same line.

Layout

Prating jokers quizzically vexed me with fibs. A quick movement of the enemy will jeopardize six gunboats. Waltz, bad nymph, for quick jigs vex! Woven silk pyjamas exchanged for blue quartz.

Sympathizing would fix Quaker objectives. Twelve ziggurats quickly jumped a finch box. “Now fax quiz Jack!” my brave ghost pled. Glib jocks quiz nymph to vex dwarf.

We can also emphasize a hero quote with surrounding rules:

Quilt frenzy jackdaw gave them best pox. “Who am taking the ebonics quiz?”, the prof jovially axed. Nymphs blitz quick vex dwarf jog. Bright vixens jump; dozy fowl quack. Schwarzkopf vexed Iraq big-time in July.
